Complete the application for a Solid Waste Facility License (PDF).
A solid waste facility license is required for the following solid waste activities and facilities in Washington County:
- Landfills.
- Transfer stations.
- Recycling facilities.
- Composting facilities.
- Solid waste processing.
- Solid waste storage.
- Tree waste processing and storage.
- Land application of solid waste and lime sludge.

Financial Assurance/Contingency Action/Closure Amounts for Solid Waste Facilities
Financial assurance for contingency action or facility closure for new and renewing solid waste management facilities and activities will be considered and approved by the Washington County Department of Public Health and Environment.
Operating permits
Operating permits need to be obtained when a Type IV or V system is installed. The operating permit is to monitor data and the operation of the system installed.
Submit any applications and operating reports to: septic@washingtoncountymn.gov.

Land applying
For each parcel where septage is applied, you must obtain the required permit. Contiguous parcels will be permitted together. Complete the Septage Beneficial Use Site Permit Application (PDF) and submit it to: septic@washingtoncountymn.gov.
