Attendance Intervention Meeting
The Attendance Intervention Meeting (AIM) is hosted by the Washington County Attorney’s Office. This programs aims to help students and parents in an early, informal setting to:
- Learn about common factors that contribute to truancy, including:
- The pitfalls of ongoing attendance issues.
- The Truancy Diversion Services.
- The court action processes.
- Consult with Washington County attorneys and school officials to:
- Discuss questions and concerns.
- Obtain information for available services and resources to address barriers to consistent attendance.
This information is provided in an effort to encourage students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to proactively seek support to resolve attendance issues and avoid further County intervention.
Attendance Intervention Meetings (AIM) is held twice per month in October - May, from 6 - 7:00 p.m. at two locations: the Cottage Grove Service Center and the Government Center.
Attendance Intervention Meetings (AIM) are held twice per month in a school calendar year.
*ALL SCHOOLS* - There will be a September meeting option forstudents that need earlier intervention: 9/23/25 at the Stillwater Government Center (referral deadline 9/12/25)

Students ages 12 - 17 years old may referred to an Attendance Intervention Meeting (AIM) after missing one or more class periods on three different days of school without lawful excuse.
The student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) will receive a letter from the County Attorney’s Office requesting that they attend.
If school attendance continues to be an issue after the Attendance Intervention Meeting (AIM), the student may be referred to participate in Truancy Diversion Services for further assistance.
Students will be referred straight to Truancy Diversion Services, when:
- They have been referred to AIM in the past two years.
- Or, they have ever been referred for Truancy Diversion Services or court action in the past.
