Big Marine Park Reserve is in the northern part Washington County. The park was selected as a regional facility because of its excellent natural resource features, including the St. Croix Valley, northeast ground moraine, high-quality upland, and wetland wildlife habitat. When completed, the park will be 1,800 acres, with 80% of its acreage set aside for preservation and protection. This 80 percent will eventually resemble the land as it was prior to the arrival of the settlers in the mid-1800s.

It also features a family-friendly swimming beach on the gentle grade of Big Marine Lake. 

A 100-foot, handicap accessible fishing pier is available north of the swimming beach area.  There is also a motorized boat launch with 33 trailer spaces available if you are looking to launch a boat. The launch is open to winter access and always has open speed. Boat launch hours are 6 a.m. - 11 p.m.

There is a large "destination" play area in the park that is actually two play areas installed in one general location. The highly accessible playground features a towering 18-foot slide, a colossal climbing rock, and a 20-foot geodesic climbing web.

Park Office Building Open May 15 - September 30, 2025.

• Park Office will be open Thursday - Sunday from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
• Closed seasonally from October - April. 
  Park remains open when the Park Office Building is closed seasonally.
• Closed on Labor Day: September 01, 2025.
  Park remains open when the Park Office Building is closed in observance of a holiday.
