Collecting rainwater reduces runoff, conserves water, and saves you money! Washington County residents can order a rain barrel at a discounted price, while supplies last. Pre-ordered items must be picked up at an Environmental Center (Forest Lake and Woodbury) within 90 days of purchase.

Donate End-of-Year School Supplies

Washington County is collecting used school supplies for a school supply swap on August 6. Drop-off donations now-August 2 at the Washington County Environmental Center in Forest Lake or Woodbury during open hours. Donations should be gently used items that students would normally discard at the end of the school year.

June Special! Free Parks Permit for New Food Scraps Pickup Program Participants

Washington County residents who sign up for the Food Scraps Pickup Program in June can sign up for a free Washington County Parks Annual Vehicle Permit!

How to get your vehicle permit: 

  • June 1-30: Sign up at FoodScrapsPickup.com or by calling 651-661-9393.
  • Fill out a form. (Paper forms also available at Washington County Parks offices.) 
  • Pick up your free vehicle permit at a Washington County Parks office. Must show email or paper form.

Must be a new participant of the Food Scraps Pickup Program. Washington County residents only. One permit per household, while supplies last.

Free Container for Food Scraps Collection

There are lots of ways to recycle food scraps in Washington County, including food scraps drop-off, backyard composting, and the Food Scraps Pickup Program. To help you get started, residents can sign up to receive a free collection container. 

Online sign-up is required and containers must be picked up from a Washington County Environmental Center. Limit one per household.
